Voluntary WCG Treasurer post available

We would like to Thank David Law for all of his time and effort with the Wheathampstead Community Group. David is hoping to step down as treasurer for the WCG after many years of service.

We therefore have a new post available. Do you know anyone who used to be an accountant or is a whiz with numbers? Would you like to help us run our accounts? We would love to hear from you if you do.

John Bunyan Family Fun Day 2016

A wonderful day afternoon was had by all at the John Bunyan Family Fun Day. The team at the John Bunyan along with the BHA (Beech Hyde Association) put together an afternoon of fun and raised a wonderful £2,300.00, which will be split between the WCG and the BHA.

First luncheon club of the year.

Our luncheon club started again today following a break over the Christmas period. What a lovely way to spend a cold, breezy day in February. We would like to once again thank the Miller and Carter in Wheathampstead for their hospitality. The club has proved so successful that there is now a waiting list, but do contact us if you would like to know more about it.

Appeal 2015

images

The Wheathampstead Community Group would like to thank the residents of Wheathampstead for their incredible generosity. Our yearly appeal has raised £4,786.00 so far, which is amazing. With the information provided on the gift aid forms this amount will only go up! So thank you!

Christmas Carol Sing Along

Nearly 100 people enjoyed our Christmas Carol Sing Along at the Memorial Hall. The Abbey Gateway Orchestra was on top form and Annie Brewster as Master of Ceremonies entertained us with some surprisingly good Christmas Cracker jokes and her usual organisation of the audience participation of the Twelve Days of Christmas. With mulled wine and minced pies in the interval, it was a great way to start Christmas and the bonus was that we raised over £400.

The Christmas appeal volunteers will soon be in your area. If you see one of our leaflets/envelopes please do seriously consider making a donation. You can see on our new appeal page where the money provided goes.

Fantastic Fun at the John Bunyan Family Day.

We had a really successful day on Saturday, all together we raised about £2,000 which means WCG will benefit by about £1,000 and The Beech Hyde Association will also benefit by £1,000.
Everyone we spoke to said that they were having a lovely time and it was a really lovely event. So a big thank you too all who came along to support it.
It was great to be able to work alongside The Beech Hyde Association, and we would like to pass our thanks on to Jannine Oxley, Chair of the BHA, for all of her and her team’s hard work. Also to the John Bunyan for hosting the event and helping to raise the profile of the two charities.

Wheathampstead Village Day 2015

We had a lovely day at Wheathampstead Village Day, even the weather didn’t stop people from coming. The plant stall, run by Audrey Chapman and Marion Oxley,  was very popular and we sold a lot of plants, helping us to raise a fantastic £288.00 on the day.

Thank you to all those who stopped by and special thanks to the volunteers who helped us set up the gazebos and arrange the stall.
